P had the day off. We spent the day hanging out, cooking, napping, reading, walking, and shoveling. What a lovely day.
P went out first thing this morning with his Santa hat and shoveled our driveway. I eventually joined him and we got a lot of compliments on our hats!
Then we finished up some cooking from yesterday. Here are yesterday’s breads – with one missing. We ate it. Yummy!
We made squash-caramelized onion-ricotta raviolis with balsamic-rosemary sauce for lunch. Oh. My. God. Delicious.
I frosted up yesterday’s gingerbread gnomes.
And then we opened presents. Uncharacteristically we set a $10 limit for each other. We decided to use our normal Christmas budget to get our yard planned by a professional permaculture designer. Anyway, this Christmas was very sweet. P made me a bluebird house and a suet feeder from scraps in the garage. Aren’t they gorgeous? I’ve been oogling bird feeders and such for a long time now, but they’re so expensive. I can’t wait to hang these up. He also got me a few of my favorite candies and two lottery tickets. I made him an apron, got him a very nice (and heavily discounted because of damaged packaging) nut cracker and a bag of nuts. He always loves the unshelled nuts his parents have out and I thought he’d like some around here.
And here is our very festive cat.
Tomorrow we’ll go for Dim Sum for brunch (a tradition) and then head to lots of family celebrations. It was nice to have a day to hang out ourselves though. Especially on a festive, snowy Christmas in our first house!
Happy Holidays to you and yours!!
