Wish I would have taken a pic of the 4 puny 1′ long wax covered sticks I brought home from the MOSES conference in February. Since then the little grafted apples spent a month in the cool basement and then the garage. Eventually they were planted with some heavy-duty rabbit and vole protection. Now three are leafing out nicely. They’re spending this year in the nursery where I can keep a close eye on them, watching for signs of fire blight (we had a blighted apple tree in our yard) and mammal damage. Next year the orchard should be ready and they’ll be moved to their permanent location.
